account
noun
A record or statement of financial expenditure and receipts relating to a particular period or purpose.
Example: The current account was opened in August 1994, and the capital account is cautiously, though gradually, being liberalized.

a person whose job is to keep or inspect financial accounts.
Example: However, when identified as Simon Wood, married accountant with two children, and with no link to Jack, it becomes apparent that things are not going to be cleared up in a hurry.

adjustment
noun
An accounting adjustment is a business transaction that has not yet been included in the accounting records of a business as of a specific date.
Example: Adjustments have to be done at the end of each month.

verb
gradually write off the initial cost of (an asset) over a period.
Example: Tomorrow we'll have to amortize the rolling stock.

appraisal

an expert estimate of the value of something.
Example: We gave him an appraisal of the jewelry.

An amount of money owed for goods supplied or services rendered, set out in a printed or written statement of charges.

bookkeeping

The activity or occupation of keeping records of the financial affairs of a business.
Example: I have done a lot of bookkeeping lately.

CPA (certified public accountant

CPA is the title of qualified accountants in numerous countries in the English-speaking world.
equity
noun
Equity shows how much business owners have invested in the business, either by investing money in it or by retaining the gains over time.

noun
a sum of money saved or made available for a particular purpose.

general journal
noun
The general journal is the master journal that all company transactions or journal entries are recorded in.
Example: Each transaction a company makes throughout the year is recorded in the general journal.

The action or process of investing money for profit or material result.
Example: better management of the firm's assets, possibly even enabling it to benefit from future investment opportunities, as they will have some constancy in their revenue figures, and to make long-run plans.

vendor
noun
A vendor is a person or business that supplies goods or services to a company. Another term for vendor is supplier.
Example: The amount changes depending on the vendor, product, protocol and version, so some level of digging and or testing is often necessary.
